About

HiFi.

A bar with an indie rock pedigree.

NYC’s best rock ’n’ roll bar.

Home to EL DJ.

The bar formerly known as Brownies.

Yes to all of it. In the 90’s we helped introduce NYC to bands like Spoon, Death Cab For Cutie, Bright Eyes, The New Pornographers, Elliott Smith, My Morning Jacket, Nada Surf, Interpol, The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, The National, Archers Of Loaf, The Rapture, The Walkmen, At The Drive In. And then we stopped–tossed the stage, revamped the space, went full corner-bar, for a full decade.

And then in 2015 we started up again. We love rock shows–and figured we can do rock shows any way we damn well please. No assembly-line bills with 5 bands, we just do one or two. …and we’re pro-comedians, and readings, too – hey, bring ‘em all. With people like Ted Leo, Will Sheff, Ben Gibbard, Todd Barry, Syd Straw, and many others stopping in from time to time, HiFi is still the place you want to be. Hell, we even have a podcast:

…and an old school real film photobooth (just a bonus).
